Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2019 Subaru Ascent, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Hopkins Custom-Fit Trailer Wiring Harness. Before we do that though, let's just take a minute to check it out and make sure it's gonna work for you. So when it comes to Subarus, you know, people use them to do a lot of different things which does include pulling some trailers around. And if that's what you plan on doing, you're gonna need a way to power up all the lights to keep you safe and legal, and that's where the wiring kit's gonna come into play. So in our case today, we actually have ours stored on the inside of the vehicle, which I like, especially if you're not gonna be using it all the time. more

And one of the really cool things about this wiring setup is the fact that you're not even gonna be able to see it whenever you're not using it, especially if you're using a hidden type hitch. Everything is gonna look the factory back here. But whenever you are ready to use it, all you're gonna have to do is open up the hatch and the wiring is actually going to live inside the vehicle. more

Hi there, Subaru owners, today on your 2021 Subaru Ascent, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tekonsha's four-pole flat trailer connector vehicle wiring harness. And this is what our wiring looks like when it's installed. That's right, it's completely hidden 'cause it's inside of our vehicle where it's protected from the elements. If we lift up on our compartment here, we can find our wiring hidden inside. We can go ahead and open it up and drape it down over the back here when we're ready to use it. It'll pinch itself between our weather stripping here. more

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2020 Subaru Ascent, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness. What I really like about this wiring is that it's going to be hidden whenever you're not using it, out of sight and out of the elements. Whenever you are ready to use it, you just open up your hatch, lift up your floor cover, and you have it stored right here easy to get to.Once you grab it, you simply just drape it over to the outside of your vehicle along the threshold. Anywhere along the threshold's fine, as long as there's weather stripping here, other than one spot. That's this area next to the latch. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Subaru Ascent- Video
Today on our 2019 Subaru Ascent we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the CURT T-Connector vehicle wiring harness with four-pole flat trailer connector.All right, this is what it's going to look like when it's installed. Now the nice thing about these is when you're not using it, you can keep it inside your car safe from all the elements. When you do need to use it, you can just simply drape it over your threshold, and put it outside that way. Now you do want to avoid putting it close to the latch because it can damage wire, but just over here on the weather strip is just fine.As you can see, it gives us plenty of length to connect to any accessory we might have. If you need to, you can actually use this dust cover to wrap it around your safety chain loop and store it outside. Say if you're using it earlier in the day, and you plan on using it later in the day, you can just keep it stored like this instead of tucking it back way inside.Now this is going to provide you with all your lighting functions that you need to be legal and safe. more

Best 2019 Subaru Ascent Trailer Wiring Options- Video
Today we're going to be taking a look at the best wiring options for our 2019 Subaru Ascent. Here we've got our options from Tekonsha and CURT. These are going to be very similar between the two, but there are going to be some subtle differences. We'll cover those first.The first thing you'll notice is that the Tekonsha here has a much smaller, more compact module than our CURT does. Also, when it comes to the module, Tekonshas typically last longer due to the potting material that's inside that keeps everything from bouncing around and keeps out dirt, debris, and moisture, whereas the CURT here is just sealed inside this box, so it does have the capability for something to come loose or moisture to enter in where the wires go through.Next you'll notice here that our CURT has a fuse holder included on its harness for its included 10-amp fuse, where our Tekonsha here doesn't have a separate fuse so it's only protected by the vehicle's fuse. Where this could become a difference is if you did have a fault on your trailer and the module was unable to shut down that circuit in time, a fuse could potentially open, which would open a fuse on your vehicle, where our CURT here has an inline fuse that would open rather than the vehicle's fuse. more

Today, in our 2019 Subaru Ascent, we're going to be installing Tekonsha's T-One vehicle wiring harness with four pole flat trailer connector. This is what our wiring looks like when it's installed. You might be asking yourself, "Well, I don't see any wiring." That's because it's hidden beneath our storage compartment here and ready to use whenever you need it. When you're ready to use it, you just want to drap it over the back. You want to make sure that you stay away from the striker here in the middle, and it's just going to pinch between our weather stripping. That's fine because it's not going to cause any damage to it. more
